5 Ways to Freshen Up Your Home for the New Year

New year, new home? Or something like that. If you’re looking for a change, or something to do to avoid the cold and stay inside, switching things up in your house can make you feel like you’re in a new home. We put together a few ideas to get you started to freshen up your home in 2022.

1. Update Your Storage Solutions

How is it that you have a place for everything and then all of a sudden you have too much stuff again?? It might be the time to upgrade your storage solutions and organize (or re-organize) your household to feel calm and ready to take on the new year.

2. De-Clutter

While you’re finding places for all the things in your house, de-clutter at the same time. If you haven’t used something in the last year or have been meaning to get rid of it, now is the time! Make it a feel-good project and donate your lightly used household items or furniture. It’s a win, win; it’s out of your space and someone who needs it will actually use it.

3. Add In New Colour

Nothing makes you feel like you’ve become an interior designer like adding in a pop of colour to your space. If you already have a colour theme, you can put those pillows, blankets and knick knacks into your new storage and bring in a new something new. Maybe try out Very Peri – Pantone’s colour of the year for 2022.

4. Move Your Furniture

If you don’t want to buy anything new (the holidays are an expensive time of the year), try just moving around your furniture to make the space feel like new. You could Google feng sui and see how to make the energy of your home flow better. We could all use some more positive energy in our lives as we get into the new year.

5. Add Some Greenery

Literally freshen up your space with live plants. Not only do they look nice, plants emit oxygen which can filter and improve the air quality in the room. You do need a bit of light in rooms for plants to thrive, but there are lots of low-light options that you can use if you don’t have a lot of natural light. Some of our faves include aloe, snake plants and spider plants.
