8 Ways to Enjoy Summer in Airdrie

We have another week of scorching heat to look forward to this week, and if you’re looking to get outside and enjoy the very best part of summer, here’s eight things to do:

Cool down at Chinook Winds Spray Park
This outdoor spray park features a variety of water toys and features so you can cool down on hot summer days. Features include: twist n’ spill water toys, ground sprays, splash spiral, interactive spray piano and public washrooms and change rooms on site.

Beat the heat at Leo’s Dairy
This ice cream truck offers up 30 flavours of delicious Foothills Creamery hard ice-cream, seven days a week.

Enjoy family fun at Nose Creek Park
Enjoy a picnic or fish in the pond at this park featuring over 40 acres of natural space. There are lots of picnic tables and pathways for the whole family to enjoy here.

Spend a day on the green at Woodside Golf Course
This is an 18-hole golf course, with beautiful greens and the longest regulation golf season in Airdrie and Calgary-area. The clubhouse features all the amenities you need for a day on the course.

Spend some time around a fire pit
The City of Airdrie has three fire pits setup in various parks that are free for community use. You can also book the fire pits for special events (family gatherings, birthdays, etc.).

Take in some outdoor tennis
The City of Airdrie maintains eight outdoor tennis courts for community use at the following places: East Lake Park, Tri-School Park and Summerhill.

Go for a walk or bike on beautiful pathways
Airdrie is blessed with an extensive bike path and walkway system, as well as a number of beautifully-maintained parks and green spaces for recreation use.

Bring the kids to the skate park
Right behind the baseball diamonds at Chinook Winds, there’s a free skate park open for community use in the summer. Exercise safely, as this space is unsupervised.
