The long weekend is almost here! Anyone who has stayed in Calgary for August long weekend knows that the population drops immensely. Everyone is hitting the road for a fun summer vacation full of camping, hiking, lakes and outdoor activities. Plus, the forecast shows sunny skies for days so there is no excuse to be indoors this weekend! 1.     RV into beautiful British Columbia

Or anywhere really. Just get out of the city’s hustle and bustle to soak up that glorious sunshine and take a deep breath of refreshing mountain air.

2.     14th Annual Calgary International Blues Festival

Whether you’re into shopping at markets or drinking beer in a tent, this is the place for you. The Blues Festival is a family friendly event full of souvenirs, trinkets and, of course, food trucks. Yum! Running July 30 to August 5.

3.     Skip the corn maze, how about a sunflower maze?

That’s right, Alberta’s only sunflower maze is located up by Bowden, only one hour north of Calgary. Road trip up there this weekend to get lost amongst the flowers and learn about the farmer lifestyle.
