We were recently informed about a safety notice issued by the provincial government at the end of January 2021 outlining a potential certification issue regarding fireplaces manufactured by Luxor Manufacturing Inc. and Canadian Fire Hearth Manufacturing Inc. The fireplaces outlined in the notice were installed in homes between 2011 and 2015. Click here to view the notice from the Provincial Government.

Genesis Builders Group has taken action to determine if any of its homeowners are impacted by this safety notice, and has already reached out directly to anyone that may be affected via registered mail. UPDATE – February 24, 2021. Notice Received from BILD Alberta, advising of next steps:
- Municipal Affairs indicated there is no initial evidence of a faulty design or unacceptable parts and the challenge will be to identify a way to update the required documentation that provides evidence the fireplaces are in compliance with the minimum requirement identified in the standard.
- Municipal Affairs is coordinating with testing agencies in an attempt to identify cost-effective ways for residents to re-certify all affected units.
- Impacted homeowners should be referred to the Safety Notice and follow the outlined steps until Municipal Affairs provides further direction.
