Things to do this St. Patrick’s Day in Calgary and Airdrie

As St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Sunday this year, there are festive events happening all weekend long. Whether you are looking for a sip of green beer, a night out celebrating or a traditional Irish experience, there are plenty of local St. Patrick’s Day events happening near you:

Airdrie Events:

 

Shamrock Shimmy– March 16

The Airdrie Food Banks biggest fundraiser of the year! Get ready for a night filled with cocktails, a catered meal, Irish dancing and a live auction where you can bid until your heart’s content. At $60/person, this major event helps keep the food bank running and assisting local Airdrie residents year-round.

Irish Spin Class– March 17

PUSH Cycle Studio is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day themed spin class this year. Enjoy an afternoon out in your green attire by participating in a 45-minute spin class followed by light refreshments and socializing with your fellow exercise pals.

 

Calgary Events:

 

St. Patrick’s Day Road Race– March 16

This free event lets you try out the newest New Balance running shoes for a short run, followed by Village Beer at the Strides Running Store. Everyone is welcome to come run, but only those over eighteen can enjoy the beer!

Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre– March 16

Everyone is gathered at Limerick Castle in Ireland for a Limerick writing contest. The winner gets one million dollars and all the fame that comes with it. I guess you could say the prize is to die for. Doors are at 6 pm for this Fort Calgary event, with actors handing out clues and interacting with guests starting at 6:30 pm. Dinner is served at 7 pm and let the show begin!

Calgary Roughnecks St. Patrick’s Party– March 16

Join the Roughnecks at the Saddledome and watch them take on the Colorado Mammoth in their traditional green St. Patrick’s Day jerseys. Each ticket comes with one 14oz domestic beer. Come for the party, stay for the game.

The Original St. Patrick’s Day Road Race– March 17

Didn’t get your fill running the day before? Or fell in love with the shoes and want to break them in? Join us at 9 am at Central Memorial High School for a 5km or 10km run!

Kilkenny Irish Pub– March 17

Enjoy a St. Patrick’s Day brunch from 9am-1pm, perhaps adding a Guinness to your meal any time after 10 am. With plenty of entertainment including Irish dancers, bagpipes and traditional Irish fare, this will be a brunch to remember!

St. Patrick’s Day at Calgary Farmers’ Market– March 17

Explore the market, take in a dance performance by Ian Gott Irish Dance Academy, play some games and enjoy the music from the Bow Valley Fiddlers all in one location from 10am-2pm.

St. Patrick’s Day at the Ironwood– March 17

Stop by the Ironwood in Inglewood for the 13th annual St. Patrick’s Day presenting The Wandering V’s and The Love Bullies from 3-8pm.
