Your Guide to Sport and Community Facilities in Airdrie

Airdrie residents are lucky to have big city convenience and nature at their doorstep, but they also have an abundance of recreation and community facilities to utilize all year-round. Staying healthy and connected in your community is easy with these places:

• Airdrie BMX: this is a specialty track for BMX bike racing of all ages. It’s located in Fletcher Park at the north end of Airdrie (Main Street and 6 Avenue NW), more information here.
• Airdrie Curling Club: this facility has 8 sheets of ice available for recreational, family and competitive curling from October to March. The Club has a lot of amenities, and is located at 102 – 275 Jensen Drive NE. More information on bookings and facility can be found online.
•  Chinook Winds Park: this park offers over 55 acres of parkland and recreation spots, including playgrounds, skate parks, amenities and even a spray park for the summer. For recreation purposes the park has: one boarded ice rink, multi-use court, toboggan hill, 4 volleyball courts, 8 baseball diamonds and basketball courts. The park is located at Chinook Winds Drive, south of Yankee Valley Boulevard.
• Gwacheon Park: this park is named for Airdrie’s sister city in Gwacheon, Korea (a fun little fact). Six handcrafted totem poles were donated to the park by Gwacheon, Korea, and it’s a great place to visit and learn something new. Located at 1701 Main Street SW.
• Genesis Place: this full-service facility offers a full aquatics centre with pool, hot tub and sauna, dryland fitness, fitness centre, outdoor recreation amenities and more. It is located at 800 East Lake Boulevard NE and more information is available online.
• Public tennis courts: City-owned tennis courts are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are three tennis court locations: East Lake Park (720 East Lake Road), Summerhill (Summerwood Road and Summerwood Boulevard) and Tri-School (305 Virgina Street East).
• Public arenas: there are three arenas in Airdrie available for registered sports as well as recreational and public use. Aeneas are located at: Genesis Place (800 East Lake Boulevard NE), Ron Ebbesen Twin Arena (200 East Lake Crescent NE) and Plainsmen Arena (320 Centre Avenue East). Free public skating times are available online.
• Baseball diamonds: Airdrie has 25 baseball diamonds located all over the city, so to ensure your game doesn’t interfere with league play, call 403-948-8400.
• Fire pits: all Airdrie fire pits are available for free use to the public, and there are two available for events: Nose Creek Park (1691 Main Street for 60-70 people) and East Lake Park (East Lake Road for 20-30 people). You are encouraged to call 403-948-8400 for availability and booking inquiries.
• Woodside Golf Course: this championship par-70 course is made up of 6,200 yards of lush, challenging landscaping, featuring 9 water hazards. This is the first golf course in Alberta to be pet-friendly. Located at 525 Woodland Drive NW, information available online. 
• Apple Creek Golf Course: this golf course is only in its second season of operation, offering a challenging and exciting 18-hole experience. The course offers all the usual amenities, such as their popular clubhouse. Located at 11064 TWP Road 275, information available online.
